Early rainy Saturday morning, after sending my children to school (gosh..hate to wake up so early), there's nothing much to do. Laundry, dishes (last night dishes), breakfast (hmmmm what to eat? Maggi is the easiest) or perhaps continue my sleeping time. Laptop on. Broadband connected, when suddenly I remember to pay my Astro Bill, electricity bill, handphone bill (nneeyyy.... I'm using prepaid) and oohhhh, need to send some money to my "over the district" daughter and her mother. It's so easy with all online banking services. Save my time, save my energy and save my petrol and now I can go back to sleep, hehehe.Just before I switch off my laptop, I'm scrolling down some memory lane, PICTURES of course. I was quite amaze with the picture that I took. How much progress it had been since the first picture that I took from my first digital camera (handphone 1.2MP, about 2 1/2 years ago)
. Believe it or not, it is also the first camera that I bought. All this while, the film camera that I have is all gifted by my friend and 1was from my mother. I am quite late in following this digital technology. I hang on to that camera (hp) for quite a while before I switch to a compact camera that I have won in Online bidding, a KODAK M853. A 7MP autofocus compact camera. The first standalone camera that I bought. I'm very impressive with the output quality captured by this point and shoot. Not knowing that there is a much better and much high quality camera there is in the market. I took pictures everywhere with that camera, Macro, Landscape, Events, Portrait, Night, I mean everything and still can't figure it out what is wrong with the picture until in one event, Rainforest World Music Festival, I realize that I need a better control camera, but WHAT camera? What is the image that I'm looking for? Then I took this picture...and I'm surprise with it, the soft sharpness and the blurry effect.
This is what I want!!! How and what I need to have this in all the images? There's only 1 place or person to ask....my friend Agop. But I also need second, third, fourth and many other opinion. The best place to ask from friends will be FACEBOOK. Now the name DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflect) comes into my life and changes everything I know about digital photography.Gamble on Canon EOS450D (I $pend quite a bit on this), I went out to take images, learned on composition, learned on lighting, learned on zooming and telling myself, THIS IS IT!!!This IS the camera that I need (of course now I need more) but still struggling to learn. Digital-photography-school.com teaches me a lot on how to use DSLR, and of course also from images took by friends, FLICKR. Now the word COMPOSITION, APERTURE, SHUTTER, BOKEH, POST PROCESSING, RAW and all photographer's jargon is just normal in my life.
As like my friend Azlan told me, it's an expensive hobby and he is right. It is. But the satisfaction is there and of course, spend on what you can afford only. And now, I'm ready to take up the challenge, being a part-time PAID photographer and welcome any FEEDBACK that can improve the skill. Thanks to AGOP, KENNETH BIDI, AZLAN, ZUL, and all friends for their beautiful images posted all over FB and FLICKR. I've learnt a lot from others of their image composition and like a professional photographer once told me "ALWAYS BRING YOUR CAMERA EVERYWHERE, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'LL NEED IT".
