Kapal Berhias - 50 Tahun Sarawak Merdeka

Isn't it nice to update the blog while on the road.  The photos below were shot in conjunction of Sarawak 50th anniversary celebration.
It was raining since early evening with no indication of stopping.  I was at the famous Kuching Waterfront since 4pm, as I knew that the traffic will be heavy and jammed.  Luckily I managed to find an empty parking space in the Divisional Mosque compound and don't have to walk very far to the waterfront.  I dropped by at India Street in search for a disposable raincoat.  Found one at a price of RM1.90. It was at 6pm when the rain started to wet the city centre. I was trapped at the shophouses for nearly half an hour before the rain show its mercy, drizzling.
When it was time for Maghrib prayer, the mosque compound was already crowded with people.  This was the 1st time I saw the mosque packed with people other than on Friday (I'm here daily) The rain started again and this time it was very heavy.  I knew that this will be a very difficult task, doing a night photography in the rain.
Needless to say, I brave myself in the rain, equipped with my trusted Canon 7D, a tripod, 18-250mm Tamron lens ( knowing there's no chance of changing the lens), an umbrella and a cheap raincoat.  Heading straight to my targeted spot which was already packed with people. Squeezing myself through the crowd, I managed to find a spot right near the jetty stairs.  So this is what I have. Remember,  the rain is still pouring non stop. (p/s: mind the English)
